TOY STORY 3: THE VIDEO GAME REVIEW

(review is based on PS3 version)

usually movie-tie in's are pure garbage. garbage at BEST. however the toy story game broke that mold...or curse rather. the game only sort of follows the movie's plot. andy's toys are just sort of telling their new friends from the end of the movie what had happened to them in the days leading up to getting where they are now. theres several levels based on the movie, but where the game stands out is in "toy box mode" it's based on the TV show "Woody's round up" from the second movie. that's where you will spend most of your time, going on quests, moving buildings, painting them, customising the toys who live there, looking for items, (there are tons of them) and going on quests for the characters for the movies. they may seem simple, which they are being as this is a kid's game, but man are they fun. for instance, clear out the haunted bakery, save the orphans, take a picture of the mayor for the news paper, find the bad guy and lock him up, get the cows back in the pen, all kinds of stuff. there are also lots of Disney references all over the game, from "grim grinning ghosts" to wall-e and mad hatter outfits, to hidden mickeys, everything.

the graphics are great too, it looks like your playing the movie, and the drop-in, drop-out cooperative mode is great. when someone hits start on the other controller the screen turns into a split screen, you can go one way, and the other player can go another and you could both do whatever you want at the same time, the only time it forces you to be together is if you need to start a "special mission" or a mini-game like racing or something. you can switch between woody, buzz and jesse by pressing a button, and each of them has special abilities the other does not, for instance, woody can swing from over-hanging rocks or light fixtures, jesse is a little faster and can land on small objects like nails and thumbtacks, buzz can jump higher and throw any of the other characters farther then any run-and-jump they could do on their own. to beat some levels/puzzles you'll need to use all three characters once or twice, at least.

also, aside from the story mode and toy box mode theres buzz lightyear the video game, it's the same game Rex plays in toy story 2, only you can play it now. it's great, buzz can fly, shoot lasers and everything else he thinks he can do in the original.

the music gets a bit old after a while, but it's nothing that serious to make you NOT want to play the game, also something strange, no matter what you do to the other characters, throw balls in the head, push them, shoot them, run over them, they don't say a word, and nothing happens....why? should there not be the occasional "that's not nice!, don't do that!" just something that pestered me.

my kids had a blast with this game, and so did the big people, it's great if you have kids, or are just a huge fan of toy story, it's worth buying. you'll never have more fun playing a video game with your family, and even if you don't have kids it's still a great game.

all in all i think it's a BUY for people with families, or hardcore toy story fans like myself. everyone else should at least rent it, its a great game.

NEWS FOR TODAY: TIME CRISIS PS3, DC COMICS ON THE PSP, NINTENDO'S NEW ONLINE GOALS

the news for today is that Nintendo is apparently finally figuring out that friend codes are full of %^%$*^&$ AND &(*%&%(& so they released the following statements: nintendos CEO iwata said: "Nintendo's online functionality is behind the others or is lacking in some ways"
"We are not currently satisfied with the online efforts that we have made so far, and we are working at ways to improve those,"

sounds good right? after some mumbo-jumbo he went on to say: ""I do not think that online functionality is something that we should be devoting resources to for every single product. Instead, I think that Nintendo's ability to create an offline experience that feels incredibly unique and compelling is a particular strength that we have."
Going forward, what we will continue to do is to evaluate the individual products and experience that we're creating on a product-by-product basis, and make a decision as to whether or not it's more important to devote resources to making that offline experience more fun and compelling for products where that is going to be the most important element of the game play; and then for products where it is going to be more important, to add online functionality and make that online functionality robust and compelling. We will continue to focus our efforts there when it's appropriate, but it's going to be a product-by-product decision.

so is nintendos online platform still going to suck mushroom? only time will tell

PSN PLUS LAUNCHING THIS MONTH

in a move similar to Microsoft's xbox live, PlayStation is launching "psn plus" a pay service that entitles it's users to free games, early demos, beta's stuff for home(it's gay, sorry) and themes for your ps3/psp. it will cost $50 a year, and if you cancel your subscription YOU LOSE ALL YOUR DLC. that is just stupid.
i can hear the ps fan boys saying "yeah that's a great idea!" dude, xbox has been doing this shit for years, and if you cancel your service YOU KEEP YOUR STUFF. anyway, i might try it out for a month or two sometime down the road.

PREPARE FOR: FEMA THE GAME!

NOT A JOKE. FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) apparently is working on a game o be released next year Called  "Disaster Hero" (very original)  will feature mini-games that educate players about common natural disasters based on geographical location, help them identify potentially dangerous situations in the aftermath of said disasters,(like the super-dome)  and relay helpful tips about the items they should have on hand to help them survive(a butt plug). Covered subjects will include preparing a survival kit(which includes said butt plug), finding escape routes(while forcibly hunched over), and applying pressure to staunch bleeding (rectal) wounds. Because if a hurricane rips through Louisiana, FEMA will only make matters worse, so you should know what to do.
------------------------------

and last but not least, yesterday i reported that a doctor strange film is in the works, now word has it that Patrick Dempsey (greys anatomy, enchanted) wants to play the title character.

What do YOU think about this stuff? is the fema game a waste of taxpayer money? will Nintendo ever get it right? could Patrick Dempsey not be a total fag? comment below

BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM REVIEW

this is one of the best games ever made, i have to agree with ign and g4 and all those other big company's on this one. i never encountered a glitch or anything. the one part that looks like a glitch is part of the story!

the control is incredibly responsive, the upgrade system is extremely satisfying, giving you the tools you need right when you need them, not when you WANT them, you will do a LOT of back tracking during the course of this game, which is OK BECAUSE you will WANT to solve the riddles. its like your game console is feeding you crack so you cant stop playing it, i am serious. i woke up in the middle of the night when this game first came up, because i figured out a riddle i just could not solve! it's that great of a game.

graphics-wise it's really, really good. although the majority of the scenary is dark and black and grey, it just fits. the other characters though bring a little more color/pizzaz (yes i said pizzaz and yes i know only grand fathers use such a word but whatever) like jokers suit, ivy's hair  and plant monsters, and, the joker gang,
bring out the quality of the graphics BECAUSE everything else is dark. if it dont make sense, you need to play it for it to do so.

the story is one of the finest batman stories I've seen/read in a while, and the voices of batman and the joker are the same guys from the animated series i used to watch as a kid! the scare crow sequences are easily the best in the entire game, and  the arkham facility itself is actually quite large, with a super-villain containment area, a green house, holding cells, court yard, small bat cave, and more. the combat is quick, smooth, easy to learn but tricky enough to provide a challenge later in the game, especially when the enemies come out in greater numbers, and bigger sizes. the only disappointment i had was not encountering Mr freeze, or the penguin, or the riddler, however you do come into contact with their cells, business advertisements and, if you solve all the riddles scattered throughout the asylum you call the cops and hear them catch him..

with the sequel coming out soon, this is a great game. and a must buy. if you own a ps3 you can play as the joker which i have not done because i opted for the xbox version because they only had the special edition with the batarang and stuff for xbox left, albeit only in the challenge mode which is quite fun actually, making you use all the fighting moves you unlocked and trying to climb up the ranks in the leader boards for each challenge, the game kicks ass.

plus harley quinn IS EFFING HOT!

all in all this game is: worth every penny!

if your gonna buy this game, buy it from amazon because i get a small commission for every game that sells from these links . i know i am a shameless little bitch. but i ain't lying about anything in the review. ask anyone who played this game!

plus the sequel is coming which should be good, but it changed developers, i dunno but I'm still gonna get it. it will be reviewed after i pick it up
